Fr. James Meade
Fr. Meade, 44, is a native of Dyer. He was ordained a priest in 1986.
During his first two years of priesthood, he served as parochial vicar at St.
Paul, Valparaiso. In 1988, he began Canon Law studies at St. Paul University in
Ottawa, Canada. Upon completion of his studies in 1990, he returned to St. Paul,
Valparaiso, while working in the Marriage Tribunal. In 1992, Father Meade was
appointed a judge in the tribunal, and was named parochial vicar at St. John the
Evangelist, St. John. The following year he began studies at the Indiana
University School of Law. Upon completion of his legal studies and his return to
the diocese in 1996, Father Meade was named a part-time judge in the tribunal
and part-time associate pastor at St. Mary, Griffith. In 1997, while continuing
his work in the tribunal, Father Meade was named an instructor at Marquette
Catholic High School and administrator of St. John Kanty, Rolling Prairie. After
serving the first six months of 1998 as acting judicial vicar, Father Meade was
named judicial vicar for the diocese. During this time he resided at St. Mary
Michigan City.
